Foreskin restoration

Growing up circumcised and restoring to undo some of the damage

by litmustest on January 23, 2011

Michelangelo's statue of David at the Galleria dell'Accademia in FlorenceI was "circumcised" the day I was born, like most. Next to the words "reason to operate" were the hand written words "live birth". Since when is "live birth" a disease? My mother claims that she does not remember signing a consent form, so I assume they forged her signature.

Like most men, I was not aware of what was missing while growing up. When I noticed the drawings of Greco-Roman nudes and statues, I asked my mother "Why didn't they finish drawing it?" I guess she explained this to me, but I have no audible memory of her words. I was trying to figure out what she was saying, and was thoroughly confused.

When mother told me that I could be drafted one day, I told her I would cut my penis off She replied "You will bleed to death." I hadn't bled to death from the scar they gave me, and could not figure out how they did this. I was glad I did not have to do it again, but was instinctively curious.

When I grew older, in the back of my mind, I was always curious as to what that foreskin thing was all about. I had mixed and confused feelings, but knew that I wish I had been consulted. Assuming my Dad was cut, I was surprised to find out that he was not circumcised when he told me 35 years later. I grew up in a family that did not support nudity as anything good, so much so that when I went to life drawing classes, I was mortified. That mortification was intensified when I first witnessed a "circumcision." Read more . . .

Intactivism: Week in Review January 22, 2011

by Tally on January 22, 2011

The Foreskin Renaissance at The Good Men Project MagazineParents, protect your babies. Support intactivism. The following list includes blogs, articles, and websites of interest to Intactivists that were published in the past week. This is a running tally of the ones I found interesting.

The big news this week is that Tally was interviewed for a foreskin restoration article at The Good Men Project Magazine. The article has information on restoring foreskin, along with a few opposing viewpoints.

Childbirth and… The Benefits of Keeping the Penis Intact
More parents are leaving their sons intact by avoiding circumcision of their sons. The article describes the increased health benefits in addition to the unequivocal pleasures of foreskin later in life.

YouTube video by freedom0speech: The Doctors: Daytime Talk Show Disaster
Doubting Marcus: The Doctors on San Francisco’s Proposed Circumcision Ban
freedom0speech does a good job of disecting and rebutting The Doctors show on male infant circumcision. The show aired on the 12th of January 2011 and was blatantly pro-circ. It is a very well done and sourced video on male circumcision that shoots down all the preposterous reasons people give as to why it's okay.

My Christian Family's Blog: The Doctors: Daytime Talk Show Disaster
Commentary about The Doctors, a daytime television show. The Doctors flippantly discussed circumcision and the proposed circumcision ban sought in San Francisco, California.

The Foreskin Renaissance

by Tally on January 18, 2011

The Good Men Project Book from Amazon.comThe Good Men Project Magazine published The Foreskin Renaissance, an article on foreskin restoration. I was interviewed for the article.

It is refreshing to encounter a professional writer who is willing to take foreskin restoration seriously. Author Laura Novak did a good job of capturing my thoughts and experiences. I am pleased that so much of what I told her was featured in the article.

As the article notes, I am very happy with the improvements to my sex life and my life in general from restoring my foreskin. Restoring is truly one of the best things I have ever done for myself.

The article tries to be balanced by presenting different viewpoints. Unfortunately, the article interviews a mohel, who performs circumcision as part of a Jewish religious rite. I wish authors would not play the religion card in these articles. It muddies the waters and fosters the idea that circumcision is allowable for religious reasons. I and most other males in the United States were not circumcised for religious reasons. I was raised in a Catholic family. Catholics and Christians are not required to circumcise their infant males, according to the New Testament.

I Want My Foreskin for Giftmas

by Tally on December 12, 2010

I Want My Foreskin for Giftmas bookLooking for the perfect holiday present for that someone special? How about a book? How about a book celebrating the foreskin?

I Want My Foreskin for Giftmas would be a unique gift. Author Carl J. Schutt wrote a book for adults that is an educational and eye-popping look at how one man searches for what was lost during his circumcision. He even has a sing-along video on YouTube.

The book is illustrated with cut paper and starts out with the verse

The first time I went searching
I looked under a rock
for that little ring of flesh
belonging to my cock.

The book is very colorful and would be great sitting on a coffee table. It is also a great conversation starter for those friends and relatives who are about to give birth and may be thinking of circumcising their newborn boy. Read more . . .

Yes, Restoring my foreskin has been worth it!

by Tally on November 30, 2010

YES! Foreskin restoration is worth every tugOn both of the restoration communities where I am a member, people are questioning if foreskin restoration is worth it.

The short answer is YES!

I am not yet finished restoring, but I have reached my main goal. I have full flaccid coverage with some overhang, most of the time. Restoring my foreskin has been worth every tug and every minute spent tugging. I just wish I knew about it years ago. Read more . . .

Tugging method versus tugging routine

by Tally on October 17, 2010

Foreskin restoration: Method vs. Routine - which is more better or fasterOften, foreskin restorers ask if a device is better than t-tape. Sometimes they ask if t-taping is better than manual tugging. I previously addressed the question of what foreskin restoration method is best? Here I will address why I do not think the tugging method is that critical to restoration progress.

There are two aspects to restoring foreskin: the method used to apply tension and the tugging routine for applying that tension.

Methods of applying tension to restore a foreskin include tape, manual tugging, and a multitude of devices. These methods are just different ways of applying tension to your skin to induce mitosis. All methods work. The tugging methods differ in convenience, comfort, and expense.

It is important for the long-term success in restoring a foreskin that the method of applying tension be one that fits into your lifestyle. For me, manual tugging is the way to go. I do not want to mess with a tugging device. Nor do I like the way tugging devices feel under my clothes. Since I need to wear clothes to work, I choose to not wear a device. That is my choice and others will, most assuredly, feel differently. Read more . . .

24 Month progress report for restoring foreskin

by Tally on August 10, 2010

24 month foreskin restoration progress reportWoohoo! This is my 2 year anniversary for restoring my foreskin.

It does not seem that I have been restoring that long. In these past 24 months I have seen significant changes to both my penis and my well-being.

When I started restoring, I had tight erections. My shaft skin was taut, which made my erections rock hard. Sort of like having a broomstick with a knob on the end. I am a grower and when flaccid, I did not have any skin mobility. Before restoring I never knew it was possible to pull your skin over your glans. My skin was not that flexible and mobile, then.

Now, after two years of tugging, my erections are not covered with tight skin. My skin moves along my shaft and I have that gliding action that I never knew even existed. I do not have full erect coverage, but that is not a big deal for me. The gliding action is a big deal. It adds a lot to my sexual pleasure. Read more . . .

Almost 2 years of restoring my foreskin

by Tally on August 1, 2010

Almost 24 months of restoring my foreskin to undo my circumcisionIn a few weeks I will have been restoring my foreskin for 2 years. If I had not been keeping track, I would not know how long I had been tugging. Tugging is such a part of my life that I don't really notice it. It is just something I do. I do not dwell on it.

As I get ready to write my 2 year progress report, I have been pondering my restoration efforts. During my two-year journey I have noticed many changes, and not just in the length of my foreskin. These changes are subtle and do not linger because, being subtle, you get used to them almost as fast as you notice them. Read more . . .

How to start restoring your foreskin

by Tally on June 30, 2010

Tugging your foreskin can be fun, but don't pull too hardA common question for those interested in starting to restore their foreskin is how to start restoring.

Many men restore because two things will happen. First, foreskin restoration will result in a reasonable facsimile of a foreskin. And, second, foreskin restoration will increase sensitivity by allowing the glans and inner foreskin remnant to return to their normal, mucosal state. But it is not all about sensitivity, the foreskin has a gliding action that better stimulates the sensitive bits. The second happens normally as a consequence of the first, but many men want to speed it up. I originally did not want to regain my sensitivity until I had enough skin to protect my newly sensitive glans. But, I regained some sensitivity before I had enough skin. And, it was very irritating having my sensitive glans rubbing against my clothing.

How to start restoring depends upon what is valued more, skin or sensitivity. Read more . . .
