    ...And Baby Makes Five...

You mentioned my post in this Week in Review, which spurred me to write another post dedicated solely to the emotions and reasons that drove the choice my husband and I made to not circumcise our son. I feel very flattered that you felt my one paragraph buried in a bunch of other news was good enough to merit inclusion.

    Thank you!!!

    Thanks for sharing your story

Thanks for sharing your story because many of us forget the importance of proper form in weight lifting because we've seen other people make the same moves many times before and it always looks easy. This reminds us not to rush and to even consider having a personal trainer especially when were beginners.

So for everyone excited to get that new fit body fast, be patient and focus on learning to do the moves right first, to avoid pain that can stay with you for years.

Thanks also for sharing the simple back exercises. Even people not suffering from slip disc but have lower back pain due to weight gain or sedentary lifestyle can benefit from it. I've tried the cobra pose before but will add the push up variation you suggested as well. Thanks!

Jonathon Conte: Motivations of an Intactivist.

Thank you for this excellent video.  Jonathon's journey is typical of the awakening which opens the mind of most intactivists .  At one point, he briefly mentioned that even doctors have no understanding of the function of the foreskin.  Until the medical school anatomy and physiology textbooks in the U.S. become as explicit as are the similar textbooks in the rest of the industrialized world, it will difficult to change the doctors' attitude.  However, as the number of intact men is growing, resulting from the drop in infant circumcisions, the doctors will be faced with the fact that intact men do not drop like flies from cancer, HIV, HPV, or STD's.  Still, I believe that it is the doctors' training which needs to be changed.  As we have seen in the San Francisco's attempt to limit infant circumcision, it only takes a few misinformed persons or judges to derail such a valiant motion.

    Best regards,

    Alfred.

    Infant circumcision video

I was cut at birth and have never seen a video of a real circumcision until just a few minutes ago. I am in total SHOCK!!! I think all women that know they are having a baby boy should look at this video and decide if they really want to do this to their son. How can this be done to us and we are never given a chance to say NO!, NEVER! NOT TO ME!, but it's done  all the time. This is barbaric and needs to stop immediately. If we told all women that baby girls were going to be circumcised starting now, I bet circumcision of baby boys would stop too.

As I said, all women having a baby boy should be made to watch this video and be told that if they were having a girl that they would also be circumcised starting now. I was totally SHOCKED and in total disbelieve that we do this to boys. Why? Why is this still going on in this country, the U.S., or any where for that matter. When i think of all the nerves that were cut off of my penis when i was circumcised now i understand why guys, when we get older, have less and less feeling in our penis, ED happens, and we get to the point that we are frustrated cause we can't do what we used to do when we were younger. Penis feelings go away or get less as we get older, I know this for a fact. If I was uncircumcised I believe I would have much more feelings that I do now, this is my own believe and I think it it probably true too. I have been thinking about restoration and i'm in my early 60's. I have always felt like I was missing something sexually being cut. I am gay, but this makes no difference  sexually,  i still feel that circumcision is wrong, gay or str8, it needs to stop NOW!  Anyway, I have always been attracted to guys that are uncut from as long as I can remember and uncut is natural, that's the way all guys should be, not mutilated and cut.

Please, Please, let the boys, guys, make their own decision if they want to be cut or not, don't do this to them without their consent, it's wrong. Why cut off something we were born with that is not doing any harm to us. Would you cut off one of our fingers just because we have ten of them and we don't need all of them? Would we cut off our ears because they stick out and are in the way? Ears are there for a reason, fingers are there for a reason, our nose doesn't do anything but stick out, would we cut it off too? Think about it, our body parts are there for a reason, not to be cut off, they all have a purpose of one kind or another, be it sexual, for hearing, or for smelling.

Please, Please, leave our boys alone and let them decide if they want to be circumcised or not and I'm sure 99.9 percent of the guys would say no to circumcision because they have found that they have so much more feelings in their foreskin. Stop Infant Circumcision Now!!! I am going to restore my foreskin if it takes me years because I want to feel as much of those feelings that were taken away from me as I can get back. I know it will not be the same as being intact, but I have to do this for myself just to feel whole and not as if I am missing something in my life. This is very important to me and it may take me a long time but I have to do this for myself just to feel more like a whole man, not for any other reason, I must have as many of those feelings as I can regain. Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope it helps to change someone's mind and not cut their baby boy's penis.

    Appreciatively, Norm, Georgia, U.S.

    CIRCUMCISION CULT IN DECLINE

Skin mutilation is on the decline but then this cult procedure must have a total ban as there is no medical necessity to perform such procedures as circumcision.  A healthy male baby should not be allowed to undergo such procedure without the medical necessity.  Normally Insurance companies deny any procedure that is not deemed medically necessity, but here is the kicker: the babies skin is valuable property that is sold and used as research and also for skin care products and therefore many Insurance companies allow the profitable procedure for keeping the lucrative trade going.

Until such a ban occurs, the CDC and the AMA have a public duty and responsibility to educate the public and inform the consequences of such procedure.  CDC and AMA should make a public service announcement on their websites (mind you this is not an option that they can elect).  BTW all major medical web sites in America are already declaring that there is no medical necessity.  But aside from making such statements and declarations they should continue to inform the public of the botched cases involved, the procedure of un-natural forced skin retraction of baby's loose skin covering the penis, how live healthy nerves and nerve endings are mutilated, the deaths that these procedures cause, likely hood of permanent deformity and function.

Parents should be required to under go  'CIRC Mandadory Informative Session'  before any such risky procedure could take place.  Hospitals and Clinics should be bound by law to inform CIRC if a pre-procedure meeting can be arranged for the parents to have all the facts for such procedures and help them make informed decision.

It is just a matter of time that the ban will take place and be imposed all over America, and in my opinion  no law would be able to  challenge the ban because the health-concern of a baby has priority over any thing else.

    Clarification-- There is a

    Clarification--

There is a difference between a "skin bridge" and a congenital glanular-preputial adhesion.

At birth, the foreskin and glans are fused together, meant to separate by their own devices, usually finishing around puberty.  This adhesion is a congenital one--you are born with it.

A "skin bridge," perhaps more correctly referred to as a "traumatic adhesion," is one where the glans and foreskin remnant, raw from premature separation and being recently cut, heal back together, PERMANENTLY.

Congenital ones in intact typically resolve themselves.

Damage induced skin bridges do NOT.

    Born still

I just learned that baby boy, Jude Mateo, was born still at home today at 12:30pm. According to his mother:

He came in his own perfect timing and his birth was simply perfect. We are at peace that we could give him the birth he deserved and we intend to honor his memory by continuing to advocate for children's rights in every way possible. Thank you to everyone, from the bottom of our hearts, for your love and support during this time. Our hearts might be broken but our spirit is intact and well thanks to our friends, family and the thousands of people who kept us in their thoughts. We love you all!

I sit here with tears in my eyes for her family.

Tax bracket is different than effective tax rate

You are correct, using the standard tax tables, the rich are subject to a higher incremental tax rate for earned (wages) income. But it is important to remember that the tax tables show the tax rate of the last dollar of taxable earned income, not the tax rate on total income and not the total percentage of income paid in taxes. The incremental tax rate does not take into consideration the capital gains tax on unearned (investment) income. The capital gains tax of 15% is much lower than the incremental tax rate for those in the higher tax brackets.

For the vast majority of taxpayers, their taxable income is equal to their gross income, which is equal to their wages. These taxpayers at the lower end of the tax schedules need all their income to live. The rich among us, however, have enough money to meet their normal living expenses, plus they have lots of extra money to participate in tax shelters or to otherwise take advantage of programs to lower their taxable income. And they get to take advantage of the tax break on long term capital gains.

What is important to consider is the percentage of income paid in taxes for each group. That is the percentage discussed in the blog. For example, the top 400 in income in the US averaged about $345 million in income. These taxpayers paid an effective tax of only 16.6% in 2007. They did not pay anywhere near 38%. They get to pay a reduced effective rate because they got a tax break that allows them to pay a lower capital gains tax (15%). Warren Buffett put this in perspective recently.

In contrast, my effective tax rate in 2007 was 18.7%. Add in payroll taxes (SS), and my effective tax rate jumps to 25.4%. I am far from rich. I do not own a jet or a boat nor do I have investments that make capital gains. What was your effective tax rate (total income taxes paid divided by adjusted gross income)?

    Rich Taxes

"Fact, the rich pay less taxes percentage wise than middle class Americans."

There are only 5 tax brackets in U.S. Tax law. "Rich" people (anyone > ~$370,000/year) pay the highest % tax (35%).

    Thanks Mel for sharing. I

Thanks Mel for sharing. I especially like your slideshow. But on the subject of erections, boys are often born with erections and get erections in the womb. Erections in fact are necessary to penile health to prevents blood stagnation. Nocturnal erections are about 4-5 times per night. Here's some indepth information for when your son is ready:

Dr. John Taylor penile and heart researcher - Sexual Function of the Dartos Muscle (loosely):
Upon erection the Dartos muscle tenses creating a one-piece solid skin tube, where any action on the penile shaft is transferred to act on the erogenous Taylor's Ridged Band and through its loop to the Frenulum, this action it transferred to act on the erogenous Frenulum, together the male's sexual nexus. No action on the shaft is wasted on these sexual structures.

Circumcision always removes all of the erogenous Taylor's Ridged Band and part to all of it's connecting Frenulum. Having this hangman's noose of the male's sexual receptors missing no longer keeps the whole of the penile Dartos muscle tense. All action on the erect penile shaft is wasted to act on the Ridged Band and Frenulum. Action must be applied directly to the Frenulum remnant, if any remains.

Circumcision cuts off 65%-85% of the male's sexual receptors (85% when the frenulum is cut or scraped off infant). This leaves 15% sexual receptors located in the glans corona where it's overpowered by the more populous pain/thermal receptors, ratio 5% to 95%. It is this case that men report "If I felt anymore sensitivity, I think I would die of a heart attack!" (Larry David) Circumcision changes the way, means, and type of sensations felt. Circumcision sexually handicaps. The dartos muscle also is longitudinal to the penis but as it approaches the glans, the dartos begins to tranverse and at the glans is tranverse. Meaning the foreskin thus has more cnstricting abilities than that the shaft skin. Furthermore, the thichness of dartos muscle can differ among men, some thicker than others. Thicker dartos shows tighter scrotums and presumeably tighter foreskins.

Intact men can also orgasm hands free by doing Kegal excerises while erect. Each Kegal enlarges the glans enough to  draw back the foreskin a bit. Repeating Kegals stimulates both the foreskin and glans enough to climax.

The number of sexaul receptors of the ridged band decrease as it loops dorsal. But opposite this decrease, the sedxual receptors in the glans corcona equally increase, thereby maintaining the same amount of pleasure receptors going around the shaft. The corresponding difference in amount of sexual receptors should heighten the awareness of position. The two sensory positions should be considered stereoscopic thus creating pleasure in breadth and depth. (Breadth and depth are what is missing after circumcision according to some men who chose circumcision.

Intact men have erect penises 8mm longer tan circumcised penises. This is anaverage, whch means there can be wide variations.

Also consult Gary's "Lost List"; gloosary of the intact penis at www.circumcstitions.com/glossary.html http://research.cirp.org/ www.norm.org/frenular.pdf

I see you revised your blog to clarify how the circumcision costs are allocated. I retract (and revise) my statement about any assumptions you may have made in your Saving Babies: Dollars & Sense: the Business of Circumcision post.

Greed is a strong motivator for continuing and promoting the circumcision culture in the United States and elsewhere. With posts like yours, may we all become more informed consumers and question the motives of those who advocate circumcision.
