WLBT: Sugar doesn't relieve baby's pain
Yahoo! News: Sugar for newborns does not relieve pain: study
The Guardian: Newborn babies should not be given sugar as pain relief, says study
Study finds that sucrose pacifiers often given to babies during infant circumcision do not relieve pain. Instead, the sugar pacifiers only mask the facial expression of pain. Use of the pacifiers gives parents the false impression that the baby feels no pain from his circumcision, which is the cutting off of the most sensitive part of the male body.
