Call to Speak Out to Support Massachusetts Bill for Genital Integrity

by Tally on February 24, 2010

IntactAmerica Sa NO! to circumcision. Protect baby boys from genital cuttingI received the following e-mail from Georganne Chapin, the Executive Director of Intact America.  Intact America is an organization that advocates for bodily integrity for all infants, particularly baby boys. They seek to protect baby boys from genital cutting, otherwise known as routine infant circumcision.

Georganne is seeking help to support the Genital Integrity Bill in Massachusetts. The Bill seeks to prevent genital mutilation of both female and male infants and children. Currently, United States federal law specifically protecs females from genital mutilation. The federal statute is drafted to exclude male genital cutting. She is asking for people to share their story so that they can present it as testimony in support of the gender neutral Genital Mutilation Bill. Read more . . .

18 Month progress report for restoring foreskin

by Tally on February 23, 2010

18 month progress report of foreskin restoration of a routine infant circumcisionIt is hard for me to believe, but I have been tugging my foreskin for 18 months. When I started tugging, I thought I would be done by now. I have come a long way, but I still have a bunch more skin to grow.

When I started tugging, my shaft skin was tight when I was erect. My glans and shaft were the same color as the skin on the rest of my body.

Now, 18 months later, I look down and I don't recognize that thing hanging between my legs. It does not look like the dick I had a year and a half ago. Not only are my glans and inner foreskin remnant a nice pink color, they are also smooth and glossy. Even when I am flaccid, my glans normally is smooth and shiny Read more . . .

Springerlink: Late complications of newborn circumcision: a common and avoidable problem
Study of later complications of children who had neonatal circumcisions. Penile adhesions, skin bridges, meatal stenosis, redundant foreskin (incomplete circumcision with uncircumcised appearance), recurrent phimosis, buried penis and penile rotation were the most frequent complications treated after the original circumcision had healed.

Well done, Canada!

by Tally on February 13, 2010

2010 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremonies in Vancouver, CanadaIn recent years the host city for the Olympics have spent more and more money to produce more and more extravagant opening ceremonies. It is as if each host city is trying to outdo previous hosts. Unfortunately, the race to excess loses the meaning of the Olympics. The host cities and countries also lose the opportunity to showcase their culture and community.

Canada and Vancouver are the exception. The 2010 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremonies was very well done without a display of excessiveness that was so prevalent in previous Opening Ceremonies.  The projected imagery was well done.  The images complemented the human performances. Read more . . .

18 Month progress report after HoLAP prostate surgery

by Tally on February 1, 2010

Little boy peeing without any sign of prostate problemsOne of the indicators of prostate problems is having to get up at night and go to the bathroom. Frequent urination is something that many men learn to live with as they get older.

I have been working too many hours lately. I have been lucky to get 4, maybe 5, hours of sleep a night. With only 4 to 5 hours in bed it is not difficult to make it through the night without having to get up.

For the last several days I got a break at work. I was able to leave work early for several days in a row. I was even able to get more than 8 hours of sleep every night. That was a welcome change.

On the second morning I was in the bathroom taking care of business. I stood in front of the toilet and it just kept flowing. I then realized I had made it through the night without getting up to urinate. I remembered that i slept through the night the night before, too.

It was not that long ago when I was getting up a couple times a night to go to the bathroom. Before my HoLAP surgery 18 months ago, I never slept the whole night through. I don't miss those nights at all.

After almost 18 months after my prostate surgery, I am thankful for the benefits of the surgery.   Read more . . .

Male Circumcision and HIV: INTERVIEW: Stephen Svoboda of Attorneys for the Rights of the Child talks about HIV and infant circumcision
J. Stephen Svodboda of Attorneys for the Rights of the Child discusses the current campaign for circumcsion as an HIV preventative measure. He makes that point that infant circumcision to prevent HIV is lunacy because infants do not get HIV from sex. It will be many years later, when the infant grows into a man, before he needs to be concerned with HIV protection. Condoms prevents AIDS, circumcision does not.

I am a circumcised man that hates his circumcision

by Tally on January 25, 2010

Unhappy about being circumcised at birth - I want my foreskin!I spend too much time surfing the 'net. And, as an intactivist, I read a lot of blogs related to circumcision. I frequently come across a comment that the person has never met a circumcised man who was unhappy with his circumcision. Hello. Now you have met one. I do not like my circumcision. I do not like being circumcised.

I was circumcised more than 50 years ago. It was something that was done to most infant boys at the time. For most of my life, I never thought about my circumcision status. My penis worked, at least, I thought it did. I know it gave me lots of pleasure. At least it did when I was younger.

I remember in my twenties when I ejaculated I could not bear to have my glans touched because it was hypersensitive at that time. As I reached my late thirties and early forties, I noticed that my glans did not have the hypersensitivity after ejaculation. As my forties flew by I noticed it became more and more difficult to ejaculate during sex. My glans was turning dry and leathery. I had much less sensitivity in my glans and penis. There was only one small spot on my corona where there was any sensitivity. The rest of my glans was less sensitive than a finger. Read more . . .

Intactivism: Week in Review January 23, 2010

by Tally on January 23, 2010

Circumcision is genital mutilation - Infant circumcumcision is wrongSay no to circumcision - support intactivism. The following list includes blogs, articles, and websites of interest to Intactivists that were published in the past week. This is a running tally of the ones I found interesting.

This has been another busy week for intactivists. The number of pro-intact blogs and articles seems to be increasing. Hopefully, this trend will continue and the circumcision debate will have a wider audience. I can only believe that as more people learn about circumcision, the more that people will realize what an obsolete and barbaric practice it is.
