A burnout can be defined as a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion occurred due to long term exposure of demanding work situations. This web page describes the symptoms and possible treatment for burnout.
The symptoms of burnout include:
- Psychological symptoms: negativism, irritable, boredom, alienation
- Physical symptoms: fatique, insomnia, excessive sleeping, gastrointestinal problems, sexual problems, frequent colds
- Behavioral symptoms: social withdrawal, relational problems, excessive alcholol or drug use, woraholic, more prone to accidents
One symptom I've noticed is a loss of efficiency because I can no longer think clearly.
Typical ways of overcoming burnout include:
- getting 8 hours of sleep every night
- eating a good diet
- getting enough exercise
- remove the stress from your life: get a different job, work on your relationship, meditate
